Check out the lamp shade I am working on.

I still need to trim the top and bottom of the lamp. I used 2  sheets  very heavy  12 x 12 cardstock.  This cardstock has almost a plastic type feeling to it. The lamp base are just two old lamps I keep in my craft room to built my shade upon. I think I will find some white pearl trim to finish off the lamp. I might see how it looks on a white wooden lamp base too.  Do you know where I might order some white pearl trim off the internet? I do not have time to go shopping.

I love it, can you do a step by step tutorial on this? I really need to update my lamp shades, and this would be perfect.

I take apart old ugly lamp shades I get at yard sales that are the size I want. Those will be my pattern. If you are careful you can reuse the wire frames.

You can order the lamp shade paper and lamp frames from online lighting supply stores. I purchase mine many years back, but they still exist.

I trace the lamp shade paper material out, then the cardstock or fabric of choice. I use my atg 714 glue gun. If you use fabric you can use a good strong fabric glue. You might can use Modge Podge.

Once you have the pattern in the sizes you want just cut out with a craft knife. I recover old ugly lamps too. The lamps that have a smooth lamp shade are the easiest to cover.

It really is simple, just pattern material, glue and old lamp shade.

Oh use very sharp craft knife blade. My ends on this shade do even need trim. I just thought maybe it would look pretty with trim.
Remember if you cut the lamp shade off of an old lamp to take apart at the back seam. Use knife to cut around the top and bottom. YOu will then need to leave a one inch allowance for the back seam.

The cheapest way is to take apart the old lamp shade and glue your news onto an existing lamp shade that you hate.

Beautiful lamp shade! I love the paper you used (I'm going to look for some). Too bad there isn't a fabric with this pattern. It would work perfectly in my craft room. Thanks for sharing!
